The New Floors

The New Floors

Sometimes one change makes your whole house feel different.  We recently had new flooring installed, and I honestly didn’t expect to love it quite as much as I do. We chose Karastan Windham Shores in Asher, and it has completely changed the feel of our home.

Choosing flooring is one of those decisions that seems simple until you actually have to make it. You start looking at samples and suddenly you’re analyzing undertones, grain patterns, plank widths and whether something is too gray, too yellow, too rustic, too perfect—or somehow all of those things at once.
I wanted something that felt warm but neutral, and still light enough to keep the house feeling bright. I also didn’t want a floor that would dictate everything else I did in the room. I wanted something that could work with the pieces we already have while giving me plenty of freedom to change things over time.  Asher ended up being exactly that.

What I love most is that it has enough variation and character to be interesting without becoming the first thing you notice when you walk into the room. It gives everything else a really beautiful foundation.
And, of course, once the new floor went in, it immediately made me want to start changing everything else and I started changing quite a bit.  Paint, furniture, decor....more blog posts for another day.

But I think that’s one of my favorite things about decorating a home.  I like finding things slowly, moving things around, adding art, changing colors and letting the rooms evolve as our life does.

The new floor feels like the perfect backdrop for that.  It’s warm, relaxed and really beautiful without trying too hard.  And after living with it installed?  I would absolutely choose it again even though installation was a PITA.
