About Me

I’m Stephanie Knudsen, an artist who came back to painting and illustrations a little later in life—and I think that’s part of what makes it so meaningful to me.  25 years ago (or more) I graduated from the university with a fine art bachelor degree and a graphic design associate degree from the local community college.  Aside from some graphic design, I've only had time and opportunity to use these skills for small practical projects.   I usually volunteered to create the show choir program or the school flyer advertising the next fundraiser.   Not designs or art I would want to selfishly create for my own interests.  

Now, after years spent building a career, raising a family, and doing all the things life asks of us, I found myself wanting to create something that was entirely my own. Art became that place again. I have more time on my hands in the evenings and have been coming back to painting, illustrations, and digital designs. I’m drawn to color, personality, and everyday beauty that as the kids say, is a vibe.  HAhAha I'm so lame.

I’m still experimenting, evolving, and figuring out exactly what kind of artist I want to be. I’ve decided that’s not something I need to rush and maybe I don't need to label my work as 1 type, 1 category, 1 style.   I'm doing this for myself after all.  Through my original paintings, digital illustrations, prints, and Cocktail Art Monthly, I hope to create art that feels fun, approachable, and worth living with—not art that takes itself too seriously.  I don't do dystopian, emo or angst artwork, even if that may be what goes through my thoughts at times.    If my work reaches you through my print club or a random print you would like to order, I am forever grateful for the support and for just being noticed.  

For me, this chapter is about discovering what happens when you finally give yourself permission to make something simply because you love making it.
